Bon Odori 2009

Yesterday i visited 2 place.... with one of my You Xuan Old friend, Tang Khai Lun.

We meet each other at You Xuan song composing society in alor setar.
And it seems that we meet again on last month autocity convention... it's fate ler, maybe...

So, back to story.... 2 places we had visited, 1st is Queensbay mall. The reason? it's to survey a bit on the charity boat rolling activity. hopefully can shoot some boat rolling action. But donno which stupid group again keep polluting the air, our beautiful penang end up to be covered with serious haze. which would be against us as a photography lover...

On the main stage, we meet a band , which give us so many suprise.
1st is the vocal... handsome yet very good voice ler....
He sang cantonese and chinese song.
and then, most suprisingly he sang Billie Jean....
it has been some time since the King of Pop passed away, but anyway people still keep missing him.

2nd place we visit is the bon odori at Padang Kota Lama....
and we withness so wonderful japanese cultural events shine in the most important spot of the heritage town of penang.... george town.
and the event blast until the climax with the fireworks display....

It would be a good experience for me to sharpen my skill on dealing with night event. With A700, not much big trouble here. still a long way to go though.

And i wish to share the photograph i took in yesterday event.....

enjoy ya

Operation Mangroove

Yesterday i went to a bistro named OXO, near queensbay mall....

Reason? Of course not to eat. (huh?) Not for drink also (Jay Chow's Cowboy also only drink milk. haaaa)

I have a mission....

Mission ManGroove

Objective: Hunt down Mangroove singing group, snipe them and withdraw...
Snipe? of course not using gun lar. using my DSLR-A700

i had promised my friend, who's one of the singer and pianist of Mangroove, to photoshot them for blog photos.... To put those photo in their blog profile.

And with this mission, I visit the bistro with my "weapon" and take a few snaps of them there.

But looks like the enviroment is against me, the lightning there is dim, with tungsten lights arround, and really not good for photography, luckily i bring my A700. With it's awesome noise performance, still the dim light is against me. Slow shutter will blur the photo, as during performance we cant expect those mangroove in perfect silence, so the only choice, high ISO, 50mm 1.7 lens with 1.7 wide open, flashgun, and of course, a little bit of noise from the high ISO.

Anyway after a bit filtering and editing, whala......

Hope you all enjoy it.

My photography gear

I did not own any camera since i was small, everything change since September of last year, when i bought my very 1st DSLR, the DSLR-A200.

The DSLR-A200 included 2 lens, the 18-70mm F3.5-5.6 Kit lens and also 75-300mm F4.5-5.6 Telezoom. This 2 lens kicked off my photography journey, giving me chance to experience telephoto shooting which many other people not able to experience without purchase a telephoto lens.

My second gear, HLV-F42 flash gun has been bought on october 2008, I used the flashgun to shoot for some events, including my friend's wedding. On november, I bought my 3rd lens, the 50mm F1.7 minolta prime lens. I bought the lens before my trip to panama, it's a great lens for portraits and low light.

December of 2008, my battery fully depleted during my shooting in an event. Disappointingly after my both flash and camera battery depleted, i have to give up shooting the rest of event, and due to that, i bought my second set of batteries.

Febuary of 2009, i own a victory ball head tripod, which helps a lot on low light photography, and also long exposure photography.

March of 2009, I had visit the 2nd kingmax 4GB compact flash card with i visit DCIM.

May of 2009, finally i found my dream lens, the 70-210 F4 beercan.
I purchased vertical grip for my A200, for better grip and extra battery capacity.

June of 2009, Finally i get my DSLR-A700. I bought the baby beercan, to replace my kit lens.

In conclusion, my gear list is as following

DSLR-A200
VG-M30
SAL1870
SAL75300
HLV-F42
Minolta 50mm F1.7
Minolta 70-210 F4 a.k.a. Beercan
Minolta 35-70 F4 a.k.a. Baby Beercan
DSLR-A700

And with these gear, it's time for me to continue push my photography skill to another height. Time to work hard... :P all the best to myself.

SOEM Photography Club

For quite some time i heard that there are some sort of photography gathering held by design member, going out to somewhere to photo shooting portraits.

And yesterday, the club is having another photography session at penang beach near queensbay mall. Therefore for the 1st time i join the event. Packing in both my DSLR A200 and A700, equip with my kit lens, Beercan and 50mm prime lens, i depart for the gathering at 6am.

In the photography session, we shoot some dawn photo, some "beach" photo, with some very nice little accessory, and finally 2 lenglui, which one of them is my colleague.

That's indeed a very tiring day. Furthermore i dont sleep well on the day before, therefore i nearly collapse when i return from the shooting. And finally now i finished to filter and post-editing my photos... time for some sharing....

Hope u all enjoyed it. :P and btw i'm so happy with the A700. it's a very worth purchase somehow....

Passion in sound

I am so grateful been granted the chance to enroll in 2 activity which my passion will always remains there... all the time....

1st is my job as a speaker designer.... my passion about sound, music, movie and sound system. Wandering around the world of compression and depression of air do come easy... but indeed enroll and master of it is insanely hard. There are magic everywhere in this field.... like very funny changes of speaker system which seems doesn't affect sound in so called "common sense" will change sound drastically (Another magic, Twink~~~) Not many people can get so-called "clear impression" of my job.... What "Acoustic Design Engineer"??? you mean electrical engineer? mechanical? ect ect... not at all.... We, acoustic design engineer are partial electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, artist, sound critics (Of course we have to criticizing our creation to improve)....

We always make sound, and also make noise occasionally....
We always make speakers, and also make rubbish sometimes (5S fury)...
We always a try and error specialist. we try and fail and try again like crazy... as sound very subjective 1 lor...
We always make magic... Talk nonsense (actually it make sense)... like "You change this and tat component, and the sound become bla bla bla...."

We.... anyway, save the elaborations and jumps to conclusion straight away.... I love my job... haa....

Hopefully my company and boss don't fired me... hopefully...

And second passion i have, save for next time lar.... there is always "To be continued"...

Map de Photography

Late i have been thinking about where i should go in the world of photography.

We know that photography is a very wide hobby. There are actually so many things to snap, like landscape, portraiture, Macros and a bug's life, abstracts, events, weddings, products, yummies ect ect..... In this so big world of photography i had been wondering, where do i belongs to...

Lately i always photoshooting events. I am also trying to enroll in portraits photography and other try like sports, race and landscape photography. And after quite some time struggling, i had decided to major in event photography.

I add in Picasa slide show for my latest event photography.... hope it works....

And it really works... Hope all of you will enjoy...

I'll add more photo in the gallery.... and wish that those who are in the photos will get excited with it..... cant wait to share out all the photos...
